The first question most parents ask us is "Does my child have Dyslexia?".

It's probably the question that led you to our website in the first place. If it brought you here, we're glad that you asked it.

That said, I'd like to tell you why it's the wrong question.

The popular myth is that Dyslexia is just about reversing letters.

The myth would have you believe that all Dyslexia is some sort of disease that you can go to your doctor and they can fix.

I can't put it any simpler:
Dyslexia is not a disease.

Your doctor doesn't have a pill that's going to "cure" Dyslexia.

The most important question that you need to be asking today is this:

How does my child learn best?

Once you answer that question, all of the other answers will fall into place.

You already know a lot of the information you need to answer this question.

If your child is struggling with reading in a traditional phonics based classroom, you already know they don't learn best in a phonics based environment.

You will need to have your child around for the second half of the test. Many kids we work with hate the idea of more tests because they have already been poked and prodded so many times. Kids know when they're being tested to find out where they are "broken".

We don't take that approach. We're looking for what works for your child. Then we teach them in a way that fits their unique needs.

Step 2: We did the Dyslexia test, now what do you do with the answers?

Once you understand how your child learns best, you need to find a program designed to teach them that way.

We specialize in helping kids who learn best when they see and experience information. We call these kids visual-experiential learners, or just 3D Learners.

3D Learners are creative, visual thinkers. Given the right tools, they can accomplish anything.

In order to be successful readers, 3D Learners need to have a picture in their head of what a word means.

For words that have a clear picture, this is pretty easy. For instance:

Hands On Reading for Kids With Dyslexia

3D Learners are hands on people. They need to touch, feel, and see things in 3D to understand them.

That's why our reading program is all hands on work, a lot of it in clay.

Our reading program isn't about plugging a child into a computer and letting their brain wander. By working in clay, we are able to engage more of the child's brain at once. And that's why it works so well.

What is your program for Dyslexia exactly? How does it help kids with Dyslexia?

Great question! For the past 10 years, our program has consisted of intensive, 5-day workshops at our center just north of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

In our 5 day dyslexia workshops, you and your child will be trained in all of our reading methods. By the time you go home, you both will be equipped to continue using our program to improve your child's reading even further.

Kids that have come through our workshops have gone on to improve their reading by two or three grade levels within 6 months.

Parents that have come through our workshop tell us something more important: They walked out of our center with a much better understanding of how their child thinks.

We realize that many parents feel they can't come to our dyslexia center in Florida.
We have two answers.

Q: My child reverses letters, is this a sign of Dyslexia?

A: The urban myth has it that Dyslexia is all about reversing letters. While we know that there is so much more to these kids, reversing letters is a common sign of Dyslexia. We have found that once kids go through our program, as their reading improves, so does the letter reversal.

Q: Does your program help kids with Dyslexia?

A: We're all about helping kids with Dyslexia, we just try not to use the word Dyslexia when we're talking with our students. We try to use the word Dyslexia as little as possible because it has such a negative connotation for many students. You'll see us use "3D Learner" or GOLD Student (Gifted Operating with a Learning Difference). We have found that kids and parents respond much better to these positive labels than negative ones, like Dyslexia.
